NDSU offers Colvin

July 3, 2009

Standing next to each other the physical differences would be staggering. One player, Hudson OL Sam Cunningham, towers over most of his opponents at 6’5 300 pounds. And the other, Superior RB/DB/KR/PR Zach Colvin, is able to weave his way through opposing teams with his 5’9 152 pound frame. Despite their vastly different physical statures, Cunningham and Colvin have something that no other BRC football player does.

A scholarship offer.

The news broke today as Colvin joined Cunningham (Southern Illinois and North Dakota) as the second BRC player to receive a scholarship offer following a camp at North Dakota State University two weeks ago.

Last year for the Spartans Colvin totaled 766 all purpose yards which was second most on the team behind University of Minnesota-Duluth recruit RB/DB Chris Blake. On the defensive side of the ball, Colvin ended the year with 33 tackles, four pass deflections and one interception. Colvin received Honorable Mention All Big Rivers Conference as a Specialist.

Colvin also made a name for himself in track and field, making the All Lake Superior Conference 1st team in the 100, 400 and long jump. His best performances in those events were:

100 meters- 11.31

400 meters- 51.94

Long Jump- 21 ft. 1 inch
