Week 4 Game and Story of the Week

Game of the Week: Chippewa Falls @ Hudson

The two-time defending BRC champs Chippewa Falls travel to Hudson for this week’s game of the week. The Cardinals haven’t lost to the Raiders since 2003 when they finished the season 1-8. The Cardinals are coming off a huge win against Memorial and the Raiders will hope to bounce back following a narrow defeat at the hands of Superior. Cardinals running back Brad Heumphner has carried the offense for the first three games, rushing for 371 yards and and six touchdowns. Hudson will need an impressive defensive performance and will need to support dual-threat quarterback Davy Branson in this game to keep the Cardinals from continuing their 17 game BRC win streak.

Story of the Week: Shootout in Menomonie

For fans of the Big 12 quarterback duals of last year between guys such as Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, Graham Harrell and Zac Robinson, the Eau Claire North and Menomonie game may be the most pass-happy game of the 2009 BRC season. Coming off a stellar performance in a win against Rice Lake, Brett Bodenburg will conduct the Huskies spread attack this Friday at Don and Nona Williams Stadium in Menomonie. Bodenburg, the BRC’s leader in completions, attempts, passing yards and touchdowns, will be looking to his primary targets Tyler Sonsalla (11 receptions for 165 yards) and Austin Rieder (8 receptions for 154 yards) to put some points on the board for the 1-2 Huskies. On the Menomonie offense, mobile quarterback Kasey Kruse will test the North defense with both his arm and his legs. When using his arm, Kruse has 6’4″ Austin Berend, the BRC leader in receiving yards, and 6’3″ do-it-all weapon Levi Kraft at his disposal. I can imagine both coaching staffs will be spending this week preparing their secondaries for a very busy game.
