North’s Lokken Out for Season

September 28, 2010

A scary moment came in Friday night’s Eau Claire Memorial vs. Eau Claire North game as Huskies senior tight end Grant Lokken was carted off the field on a stretcher after an apparent lower leg injury. Lokken found out later that night that he had broken his fibula after a trip to the hospital. On Monday, Lokken returned to the hospital and the news wasn’t good for the senior.

“Just got back from the hospital, I’m out for 11 weeks,” Lokken said in an e-mail on Monday afternoon.

The 6’5″ 190 lb. Lokken had 21 catches for 240 yards and two touchdowns last season. Through only five weeks, Lokken had eclipsed some of those numbers with 19 catches for 269 yards and a conference-leading four receiving touchdowns.

With his size and athleticism as a passing target, Lokken has received recruiting interest from all over the Midwest after attending off-season camps at Wisconsin, Winona State and the University of Minnesota-Duluth.
